BPR Pronouncement and Political Candidacies
On March 11, 1990, the BPR announced the candidacies of Yehude Simon for the senate and Lucas Cachay and Moisés Cabrera for the deputy positions in San Martín and Lambayeque, respectively. These candidates were part of the IU's parliamentary list, yet they expressed reservations about participating in the general elections, emphasizing the importance of preparing for future struggles. The formation of the BPR highlighted a growing radicalization among leftist militants, leading to significant resignations from the PCP Unidad due to disagreements over the party's strategic direction.
El 11 de marzo de 1990 se publicó un pronunciamiento del BPR en el que se anunciaban las candidaturas de Yehude Simon al senado y de Lucas Cachay y Moisés Cabrera a las diputaciones por San Martín y Lambayeque respectivamente. Como parte de IU, sus candidatos integraron la lista parlamentaria del frente izquierdista. Sin embargo, el BPR expresó reservas sobre su participación en las elecciones generales del 8 de abril, señalando que «las elecciones del 8 de abril son importantes, pero en ellas no se nos va la vida». Esta pronunciamiento reflejaba la radicalización acelerada de los militantes izquierdistas que conformaban el BPR.
