On March 4, 1986, Lieutenant Commander AP Alvaro Artaza Adrianzén disappeared just before the trial against him for the Ayala case began. He was to be the first officer to be tried for the disappearance of journalist Jaime Ayala Sulca. The report mentions sub-officer Lince (second warrant officer AP Román Martínez Heredia), who was involved in Ayala's disappearance. This case represents an attempt to bring members of law enforcement to trial for forced disappearance during the internal armed conflict.
