Coup d'état of April 5, 1992
On April 5, 1992, a coup d'état took place in Peru, led by President Alberto Fujimori. The coup involved a large-scale military operation that included the takeover of public buildings, the detention of congress members, judges, journalists, and union leaders, and the use of military facilities as detention centers. The military forces, with the support of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces and the National Police, took control of the Congress and other public locations to prevent the assembly of Congress, effectively establishing a government of emergency and national reconstruction.
El 5 de abril de 1992 se ejecutó un amplio operativo militar que incluyó la toma de control de locales públicos, detenciones de congresistas, magistrados, periodistas y líderes sindicales, y el uso de instalaciones militares como centros de reclusión. Tras el mensaje televisivo presidencial, el Comando Conjunto de las Fuerzas Armadas y la Policía Nacional expresó su respaldo total. Efectivos militares y vehículos blindados ocuparon el Congreso de la República y otras instituciones, deteniendo a numerosas personalidades para impedir la reunión del Congreso. Se trató de un golpe institucional ejecutado conjuntamente por el Ejército, la Marina de Guerra y la Fuerza Aérea bajo el Comando Conjunto, similar a golpes militares previos en el país.
