On May 26, 1982, a group of approximately 200 hikers led by "René" and possibly coming from Vilcashuaman, entered Chalcos. Under the charge of snitching, they murdered a teacher and her boyfriend, a CORFA-Ayacucho engineer. This event occurred in the Districts of Chilcayoc, Chalcos and Belen, adjacent to Andahuaylas and then belonging to the province of Lucanas (now part of the province of Sucre). The action was part of the initial presence of the PCP-SL in this area of southern Ayacucho, which dates back to 1982.
