Operation Chavín de Huántar
In 1996, during the presidency of Alberto Fujimori, a military operation was planned to rescue hostages held at the Japanese embassy in Lima, Peru. The operation, known as 'Nipón 96', involved the creation of a Tactical Operations Center and the training of a specialized unit called 'Patrulla Tenaz'. The plan included the use of selective instinctive shooting tactics and intelligence gathering through hidden microphones and other means.
