Interview with Abimael Guzmán by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission
Abimael Guzmán Reinoso, the leader of the Shining Path, was interviewed by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. During the interview, Guzmán acknowledged involvement in certain actions but denied participation in others, such as the cases of Huilca, Moyano, and Franco. He mentioned that information about actions was often received through regular reports, and he expressed a willingness to investigate certain incidents further.
Integrantes de la Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación entrevistaron a Abimael Guzmán Reynoso el 30 de abril de 2003 en el Centro de Reclusión de la Base Naval del Callao, donde cumplía condena como líder de Sendero Luminoso. Durante la entrevista, Guzmán negó rotundamente tener relación alguna con el asesinato del dirigente sindical Pedro Huilca, afirmando que "en lo absoluto" tenían que ver con su muerte. Explicó que si bien él había participado en decisiones específicas, en el caso de Huilca su organización no tenía responsabilidad, aunque reconoció recibir informes regulares de acciones realizadas por miembros de su agrupación.
