Discovery of Human Remains in Cieneguilla
On July 8, 1993, the magazine Revista Sí published a report revealing the discovery of human remains in Cieneguilla, Lima. The remains, believed to belong to missing students and a professor, were found in a ravine and included charred and sectioned bones and personal effects. The discovery led to accusations against the government and attempts to blame the Sendero Luminoso group, highlighting the tense political climate in Peru at the time.
Un sobre anónimo llegó a la revista "Sí" informando sobre fosas en Cieneguilla. La Fiscalía verificó cuatro zonas con tierra removida donde se encontraron restos óseos calcinados, fragmentos de ropa, plástico y cartones en diferentes niveles, indicando que los cadáveres habían sido quemados en avanzado estado de putrefacción. En la tercera fosa se hallaron también un llavero con varias llaves y una cadena. El Fiscal Cubas Villanueva reveló que los restos humanos fueron quemados en otro lugar y posteriormente trasladados a Cieneguilla.
