Assassination Attempt on Domingo García Rada
On April 24, 1985, Domingo García Rada, the President of the National Jury of Elections, was the target of a terrorist attack by members of the subversive group Sendero Luminoso. The attack occurred when his vehicle was intercepted in the district of San Isidro, Lima. As a result of the attack, Domingo García Rada was seriously injured, and his driver, Segundo Navarro Silva, was killed.
El 24 de abril, presuntos miembros del PCP-SL ametrallaron el vehículo del entonces presidente del Jurado Nacional de Elecciones (JNE), Domingo García Rada. El ataque dejó herido al presidente del JNE y causó la muerte de su chofer. Este acto de violencia de origen político ocurrió en el contexto de la campaña electoral de 1985, cuando diversos grupos terroristas realizaban acciones para boicotear las elecciones.
