Human Rights Violations in Santa Mónica Prison
In 1992, numerous reports emerged detailing the abuse and mistreatment of female detainees at Santa Monica Prison in Chorrillos, Peru. Women were subjected to physical and sexual abuse during interrogations, often coerced into signing false confessions under duress. These testimonies highlight the systemic use of fear and violence as tools for extracting information from detainees.
Los hechos ocurrieron en el Establecimiento Penitenciario de Santa Mónica en el distrito de Chorrillos en 1992. Mujeres detenidas en la DINCOTE reportan ser sacadas de sus celdas para interrogatorios donde eran sometidas a manoseos, desnudos forzados y abuso sexual durante varias horas. Los interrogadores utilizaban amenazas de violación, insultos y violencia física para coaccionar confesiones falsas, negándoles acceso a abogados y a sus familias.
