MIR-VR's Influence in San Martín and the 1981 SUTE-SM Congress
In 1981, the MIR-VR significantly influenced the political landscape in San Martín, Peru, by winning the leadership of the SUTE-SM during its regional congress in Sauce. The victory was led by Lucas Cachay Huamán and marked a pivotal moment for the MIR-VR, as it expanded its influence across various cities and provinces, including Chiclayo, Trujillo, and Lima. This period saw the MIR-VR consolidating its power and furthering its insurrectionist agenda by forming study cells and infiltrating local organizations.
Durante los años 70, el MIR-VR se asentó en San Martín y organizó células de militantes entre profesores en localidades como Shapaja, Shanao y Pucacaca, expandiendo su radio de acción a Moyobamba y Juanjuí. En 1981, se realizó el Congreso Regional del SUTE-SM en Sauce donde la lista mirista encabezada por Lucas Cachay Huamán renovó la Junta Directiva del sindicato por dos años. Esta consolidación fue fundamental para que el MIR-VR ampliara la captación de cuadros y formara células de estudio en diferentes ciudades de San Martín, con el objetivo de fortalecer su proyecto de insurrección armada.
