Reorganization of Public Universities Act - May 25, 1995
Law 26457 of May 25, 1995 declares reorganization of public universities and dismissal of authorities.
On May 25, 1995, Law 26457 came into force, declaring the reorganization of the country's public universities and the dismissal of their authorities. Among the background to the enactment of the law was the existence of a pronouncement that pointed out the alleged resurgence of terrorist activity within the university campuses. As happened with the 1992 massacre, in which students accused of terrorism were kidnapped and murdered shortly after the attack in Tarata, this time the government used an explosive attack at the María Angola Hotel as a justification for the law. A Reorganization Commission was declared in the UNE (COREUNE).
