On February 20, 1993, María Magdalena Monteza Benavides made a statement at the Lima police station. During this statement, she denounced having been subjected to physical and psychological torture, including rape, by members of the Peruvian Army during her detention on October 30, 1992. This statement was made in the framework of the proceedings against him for the crime of terrorism before the 14th Criminal Court of Lima.
