Environ 300 personnes, dont des civils et des enfants, moururent lors d'une opération militaire à Venenillo.
En junio de 1989 aproximadamente 300 personas murieron en el caserío de Venenillo a raíz de un enfrentamiento entre elementos subversivos y efectivos militares. Posteriormente se denunció que muchos de los muertos eran civiles, entre ellos niños. Según testimonio de un ex militar, el General Alberto Arciniega Huby ordenó que 'arrasen', ejecutando a todas las personas encontradas en los alrededores. Los cadáveres fueron quemados o arrojados al río. El operativo fue dirigido por el Teniente Coronel Pedro Tello Delgado del Batallón Contrasubversivo N° 313.
