  Kidnapping and murder of Mariela Barreto Riofano

  On March 22, members of the SIE kidnap SIE agent Mariela Barreto Riofano. On March 24, her dismembered body with signs of torture is found at kilometer 25 on the road to Canta (Lima). Her murder is linked to Leonor La Rosa's denunciations of irregular activities in the intelligence services.
