Peru: what remains of the Shining Path guerrilla?
The central Ayacucho region in Peru was severely hit by the conflict that afflicted the country from the 1980s until 2000. France 24 reporters traveled to Peru to find out what remains of the terrorist group Sendero Luminoso. Ayacucho, in Peru, was the scene of massacres carried out by Sendero Luminoso and atrocities committed by the Army. Thousands of people lost their lives and thousands more remain missing to this day. Twenty-five years later, Peru remains traumatized by this dark period of its history.
