CVR public hearings: thematic hearing on violence against the educational community. November 2002

The public hearings of the Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación (CVR) were solemn, open sessions in which the commissioners received testimony from victims and witnesses of the acts of violence experienced during the Peruvian internal armed conflict 1980–2000. The opportunity to give testimony before the country is a public act of dignity and healing for the victims. This video shows the thematic public hearing on violence against the educational community, held in November 2002, where testimony was presented by: Diógenes Valderrama Bardales, arbitrarily detained by anti-terrorism police; Percy Choque Ramos, former student leader; Nilber López, general secretary of Sutep; Susana Córdova, social researcher; Nélida Céspedes, representative of the educational NGO Tarea.
