CVR public hearings: Abancay. August 2002

The public hearings of the Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación (CVR) were solemn, open sessions in which the commissioners received testimony from victims and witnesses of the acts of violence experienced during the Peruvian internal armed conflict 1980–2000. The opportunity to give testimony before the country is a public act of dignity and healing for the victims.
