'Mamá Angélica': The Life That Clung to Hope

A native of Ayacucho, her name was Angélica Mendoza Ascarza, but Peru knew her simply as "Mamá Angélica." Until the age of 88, when life gave out, she never stopped searching for her son Arquímedes, who disappeared in Huamanga during the period of political violence. She was one of the founders of the Asociación Nacional de Familiares de Secuestrados, Detenidos y Desaparecido del Perú (ANFASEP). Published on August 31, 2017.
