'Mamá Angélica' Dies, Symbol of the Disappeared in Peru

Angélica Mendoza, who for more than three decades searched for her son kidnapped by Peruvian security forces and became a symbol for families of the disappeared, died at the age of 88 in the southern city of Ayacucho. Mendoza's lawyer, Gloria Cano, reported on Tuesday that the activist died of pneumonia. Published on August 29, 2017.
