Kuczynski's Secret Deal to Pardon Alberto Fujimori

Three months before the pardon of Alberto Fujimori, Peruvian president Pedro Pablo Kuczynski received the former president's son. He did so shortly after announcing another cabinet, forced at that time by the Fujimorist opposition. While walking through and photographing with his phone the rooms and corridors where he once lived as a child, then-legislator Kenji Fujimori asked Kuczynski to free his ailing, convicted father in exchange for political support in congress, said a source close to the president who did not wish to be identified.
