Cabitos 83 Case: An Encounter with Justice?

During 1983 and 1984, Ayacucho witnessed thousands of detentions and disappearances. During curfew, combined patrols moved through the streets breaking down doors, entering homes, and detaining hundreds of people, who were transferred to the barracks known by all Ayacuchans as Cabitos 51, where they were subjected to atrocious torture. The vast majority of people who entered the barracks were never seen again.
