LAW ON SEARCHING, IDENTIFYING, AND RESTORING DISAPPEARED PERSONS
According to COMISEDH investigations carried out over the last 10 years, more than 60% of burial sites at the national level — where the remains of victims of the internal armed conflict lie — are located in Ayacucho. The Instituto de Medicina Legal has indicated that 15,731 people are still listed as disappeared in the country. Resolving these problems requires a law for the search, identification, and restitution of disappeared persons, and a declaration that the implementation of a national plan for anthropological-forensic investigations is a matter of public necessity, as well as the establishment of a governing body to oversee this process of searching for and identifying persons.
