Twice Dead: The Story of the Image and Life of Celestino Ccente or Edmundo Camana
Drawing on a photographic image exhibited in 2003 in the context of the presentation of the Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (August 2003), which became iconic of the internal armed conflict experienced in Peru between 1980 and 2000, I present a reflection on the uses and abuses to which, through his image, a survivor of a massacre that occurred in April 1983 is subjected — a survivor whose body ultimately becomes a battlefield of memories for the different actors involved in the internal armed conflict.
