Comrade Carla, the Courage of a Young Revolutionary
The "Comrade" was barely 20 years old when she joined the armed struggle. She was one of the most prominent guerrillas in the Ayacucho region. She was a member of the Partido Comunista del Perú (PCP). She participated in "armed but unarmed" combat, at a time when the Maoist insurgency still lacked sufficient weapons of war. There in Ayacucho she joined the guerrilla columns that clashed with the armed forces and police forces that in 1983 were commanded by General Clemente Noel.
