The Genie and the Bottle: On Movadef and Shining Path at San Marcos
Movadef is Sendero Luminoso. Or more precisely, it is its new "generated organism." Despite the efforts of its documents and spokespeople to draw a distinguishing line, the fact is that Movadef has represented, since 2007, the third stage of its political growth since the capture of Abimael Guzmán in 1992. First, between 1993 and 1999, they aligned around the call for a "Peace Agreement," and then, between 1999 and 2007, they organized under the slogan of "providing a political solution to the problems arising from the war."
