Three Shining Path Members Killed in the Peruvian Jungle
The Joint Command of the Armed Forces reported that during the early hours of Monday, a confrontation between authorities and members of Sendero Luminoso in the jungle of Ayacucho (southern Peru) resulted in the death of three "terrorist criminals." One of them is believed to be Alejandro Borda Casafranca, alias Camarada Alipio, the number two leader of the remnants of that organization in the Apurímac and Ene River Valley.
