Prosecutor's Office Reopens Forced Sterilization Case from the Fujimori Regime

The Lima Supraprovincial Criminal Prosecutor's Office decided to reopen the investigation into the case of the forced sterilization carried out on María Mestanza Chávez during the government of former President Alberto Fujimori. This was the first case admitted by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (CIDH). It emerged that this case will be investigated as a crime against humanity and not as a common crime, as was the case in the past.
