Not All Political Violence Is Terrorism

An interview with Gustavo Gorritti on the reissue of his book "Sendero: Historia de la guerra milenaria en el Perú" makes clear that the Maoist insurgency has never stopped worrying the public in that country, despite the fact that its most prominent leaders are in prison. Gorriti's book examines the Peruvian government's response to the armed struggle launched in May 1980 by the extremist organization Sendero Luminoso, which unleashed a civil war. Its reissue raises some questions about current terrorism.
