Lawsuit Against the Peruvian State. Cayara Case
The Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos requests the Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos to rule that the Government of Peru, through the acts of its agents, has violated the right to life, the right to personal integrity, the right to personal liberty, the right to judicial guarantees, the right to private property, and the right to judicial protection, as a consequence of the extrajudicial executions, torture, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearances, and damage to public and private property of Peruvian citizens who were victims of actions by members of the Ejército del Perú beginning on May 14, 1988, in the district of Cayara, Province of Víctor Fajardo, Department of Ayacucho.
