City of the Condemned

Here we ask: how did Peruvian filmmakers represent the city of Lima at the end of Alan García's first government and the beginning of Fujimori's first government? What was the cinematic image of the capital at a time when an internal war and a severe economic crisis were being experienced in the country? Did the city of Lima appear in those films — released before the bombing on Tarata street — as a city untouched by the violence that was devastating the Andes, or, on the contrary, was it shown as a zone under threat, if not already fully invaded by death?
