Mental Health Intervention for Victims of Political Violence
Political violence is a historical reality for the population of Peru. Many suffered the terrible consequences of the demented attacks by terrorist and drug trafficking groups and the incursions of the armed forces. The Final Report of the Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación calls on the State for a Reparations Plan for victims, including health reparation measures. Hospital Hermilio Valdizán contributes to these actions in the affected regions of Ayacucho (Puquio), Huánuco, Junín, and San Martín. This article presents the methodology and results of the intervention carried out with health workers and the affected population in those regions.
