Mariella Barreto was murdered and dismembered 13 years ago, shortly after having revealed the location of the victims of a massacre attributed to the government of then-President Alberto Fujimori. The discovery this Wednesday of new evidence regarding her death has once again brought to light one of the most extreme cases of political violence from that period that remain unresolved.
