Lucanamarca, Contrasts of Memory
The day after Senderistas carried out the Lucanamarca massacre (Ayacucho) in 1983, photographer Óscar Medrano was the only journalist who reached the community trying to document the killing. Twenty-five years later, Medrano returned to Lucanamarca. Fifteen kilometers away, in Condorhuanca (where the condors are born), he found Edmundo Camana, the same man who had concealed his identity with a pseudonym and who today spends his days trying to recover from his past, but also from his present.
