DISPLACED PERSONS
A group of people displaced by the armed conflict moves on the outskirts of Lima. Like this group, since the start of the internal armed conflict, hundreds of families from Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Apurímac, and also from the jungle valleys of Monzón, Alto Huallaga, and Satipo, among many others, were forced to abandon their places of origin and migrate to the capital in search of refuge. Lima, however, was not prepared to meet their basic needs. In 1993, the Programa de Apoyo al Repoblamiento (PAR) was created to encourage the return of displaced persons to their communities of origin.
