WHO ARE THE DISPLACED?
Analysis of the results of the survey of persons displaced by political violence (Census for Peace 2001). The survey of displaced families was conducted as part of the "Census for Peace" in April 2001, and was carried out by the technical advisory office of the PAR. A total of 949 families were surveyed in the cities of Abancay, Ayacucho, Huancayo, Ica, and Lima. The topics investigated included the sociodemographic characteristics of the displaced population, their educational capacities, the reasons and explanations for the displacement process, the economy of displaced families, and their deprivations and distance from their place of origin.
