State of the Art. The Conflict in Peru

The civil war in Peru during the 1980s and 1990s was a fertile ground for the emergence of new actors with various names, but reflecting a similar reality. The so-called Comités de Autodefensa, Comités de Defensa Civil, Rondas Campesinas, or Rural Militias are groups that reflect the very expression of peasant resistance against the guerrilla revolution of Sendero Luminoso. These different phases are analyzed in the literature reviewed below. Thus, the reader will find a bibliography composed of books, book chapters, academic articles, and other publications on the Peruvian conflict.
