Displacement, Integration and Return in Ayacucho (1993–1997)

Displacement is a relatively new phenomenon in Peru. It is a new type of migration whose determining factor is political violence. Unlike traditional migration, displacement is characterized by being forced, compulsory, sudden, and regressive, insofar as it reduces its objectives to the preservation of a basic right: the right to life.
