The Military and Shining Path Facing the Peruvian Democratic System
Peru's historical trajectory already signals the frequency and extent of democratic interruptions, which constitutes an interesting phenomenon for analysis. It is from that complex and multifaceted set of phenomena — with political actors presenting diverse ways of acting and thinking — that this article, starting in 1930 and naturally in general terms, attempts to account for, with emphasis on the role of the Armed Forces and the subversive force of Sendero Luminoso.
