Peru: The Right to Choose
So that women can freely exercise their rights, two women's organizations are denouncing the coercive methods of family planning in Peru. According to CLADEM, starting in 1996, the family planning announced by President Alberto Fujimori as a democratization of health services so that women could be "masters of their destiny" was transformed into a coercive sterilization policy, with AQV as the only option, in order to meet national quotas.
