Forced Sterilization of the Indigenous Population in Peru

During the presidency of Alberto Fujimori, a birth-control plan was implemented targeting the poorest sectors of the Peruvian population, essentially indigenous people, which under the pretext of improving living conditions became a forced sterilization plan. When the scandal broke, feminist and non-governmental organizations realized that their aims had been perverted and that this atrocity was being exploited by the most reactionary sectors of the Catholic Church.
