Theoretical Perspectives on Transitional Justice
This essay seeks to sketch the initial outlines of a theoretical model that would allow us to discern the various problems that arise during democratic transitions when deciding how to confront crimes committed during the previous regime. * The author is the coordinator for the Southern countries of the Coalition of NGOs for the International Criminal Court. This essay revises and expands a paper originally presented at the New School for Social Research (New York), and is submitted as working material for the seminar "Peru 1980-2000: The Challenge of Truth and Justice" organized by Asociación Pro Derechos Humanos and the Coordinadora Nacional de Derechos Humanos.
