The Eternal Year
The following report covers the culminating aspects of the political events of the year 2000. The most serious was the resignation from Tokyo of then-President Fujimori, who had concealed from the country his latent Japanese nationality, which he would formalize in an attempt to escape Peruvian justice. The other major event was the final unmasking of Vladimiro Montesinos as an arms trafficker, money launderer, and multimillionaire in ill-gotten dollars, in addition to being responsible for crimes against human rights.
