Last Tuesday, the meeting between government representatives and the MRTA was supposed to begin at 9 in the morning. Rolly Rojas, El Árabe, was to travel through a canvas tunnel built between the seized residence and the house rented as a meeting venue. But the MRTA rejected that option. "Those who built it might try to enter the residence," was the subversives' argument. The armored blue-gray van provided by a security company was the alternative for transporting El Árabe, but that too was rejected by the MRTA members, on the grounds that improvisation is safer for them.
