The Hour Has Come. Peruvian Democracy Confronts Abimael Guzmán
On November 5, the trial against Abimael Guzmán and the Shining Path leadership is set to begin, after the Tribunal Constitucional (TC) annulled in January 2003 the convictions for crimes of terrorism and treason handed down under Fujimori's 1990s legislation, in which military tribunals tried civilians with severe restrictions on the right to a defense.
