To Die in Canto Grande
The massacre at the Canto Grande prison on May 10, 1992 will hardly be erased from the minds of Peruvians, as it was the first bloody action widely promoted by President Fujimori in his eagerness to justify the self-coup, as is known today. It contains the testimony of Mario Vilcara, one of the thousands of innocent people who served time in prison as a result of the war between Sendero Luminoso and the Peruvian government. His misfortune dragged his family down with him, and today he and his siblings are in exile in New York. Published in 2002.
