Chronology of the Exhumation of the Remains of 37 of the 50 Victims in Huanta

Between March 9 and 25, 2009, the human remains of 37 of 50 people executed by agents of the Navy and found at the Pucayacu site in August 1984 were exhumed from the General Cemetery of Huanta. Identification of the remains is awaited, including those of Jaime Ayala Sulca, a journalist from Huanta and correspondent for the newspaper La República, who disappeared on August 2, 1984 at the hands of Navy personnel, as well as Juan Medina Garay, Cirilo Barboza Sánchez, Alejandro Gutiérrez Taype, Graciela López Medina, Santiago Loayza Cahuana, 43 community members from Culluchaca, six missing persons from the community of Uyuviri, and others.
