They Want to Achieve Impunity
The first vice president of the Republic, Luis Giampietri, stated yesterday that the trial for the massacre at El Frontón on June 19, 1986, during the first government of Alan García, has expired. Giampietri, speaking with LA PRIMERA, complained about continued discussion of the same matter 23 years after the event that provoked the repudiation of national and international public opinion. He thus attempted to minimize the true magnitude of this reprehensible act, which resulted in the deaths of 124 prisoners — sentenced and mostly awaiting trial for terrorism — who were held at the El Frontón prison.
