Accomarca Massacre Turns 22 Years Unpunished
Cirila Pulido and Teófila Ochoa were 12 and 13 years old when on August 14, 1985, a Peruvian army patrol stormed their village, Accomarca, in the southern Andean region of Ayacucho, and killed 69 peasants, among whom were their parents and siblings. Since Peruvian justice has not punished those responsible, the two women turned to courts in the United States in search of justice. Published on August 13, 2007.
