Shining Path Walks Through Ayacucho Again
Fifteen years ago, the districts of Sivia and Llochegua, located in the province of Huanta, in the jungle foothills connecting the departments of Ayacucho and Cuzco, were declared a liberated zone by terrorism. Fifteen years ago, Sendero Luminoso seized this area known as La Oreja de Perro and used it as a base of terror throughout the Apurimac valley. Published on March 27, 2002.
