What would happen in Argentina if the Madres de Mayo were threatened with death for insisting that those who killed their children be convicted? What would happen in Chile if judge Juan Guzmán received anonymous calls warning him he would be executed if he continued to harass Pinochet's henchmen? Undoubtedly those threats would be met with widespread public condemnation, massive demonstrations would be organized in support of those being intimidated, and there would not be a single public figure who, despite any reservations, would fail to issue statements of solidarity with those being threatened.
